The City Sounds
Home to some of the most influential Australian bands and artists of the last 40 years, there’s no doubt Brisbane has developed a distinct music DNA. From 70s rock band The Saints, 80s jangle-pop band The Go-Betweens, and 90s alternative rock band Powderfinger, to more recent talent including indie rock four-piece Last Dinosaurs and folk pop songstress Emma Louise.
Since 2000 The City Sounds music program has been bringing Brisbane’s emerging music talent to light. We’ve welcomed touring national and international artists to Queen St Mall’s Main Stage, but at the essence of The City Sounds is our commitment to giving our local music talent a public stage. Last year alone we presented over 750 artists, in over 2,300 performances, across 155 days - making it Australia’s largest free live music program!
We are excited to be presenting music in nine CBD locations every week. With everything from Alternative, Acoustic and Folk, to Jazz, Reggae and Electro genres. Head to The City Sounds Facebook page to stay up-to-date with gigs, new music talent, competitions and more!
